Here are some guidelines before you submit your files:
Outer Cover
When designing your colour cover try and do this in CMYK as the will give the best colour match when printing. Downloadable images for your cover can be found easily, for example, www.istockphoto.com or type "image library" into any search engine.
There are also free royalty image libraries. Type "royalty free images" into your search engine.
The design needs to include the back, spine and front as one single item and remember to add bleed to leave room for cutting.

Spine Width

Page layout/format
Some people prefer roman numerals for the index pages and the first chapter to start with page 1.
When you supply your files, send as one PDF file and not multiply files as this eliminates problems with the page order.
We advise leaving a standard 12mm border top and bottom of each page.
Generally odd page numbers are on the right-hand side of a page as you look at the open book.
We would advise starting new chapters on the right hand side of the page and adding blanks as needed.
Remember to proof read! Do not rely solely on a computer spell check. The default language should be set to UK English.
When setting up your book remember to set the paper size to either A4 210mm x 297mm or A4 148mm x 210mm
Graphics
Any scanned images or downloaded images should be 300dpi for the best print output. Colour images should be in CMYK colour rather than RGB for the best quality although we can print from RGB.
DO NOT use any images, pictures or maps without the permission of whoever owns the copyright. You cannot copy from other books, newspapers or the internet without permission.
Images from the internet are 72dpi and may look ok on screen but won’t print at the standard print needed to be.
